Why 90% of OSCP candidates fail on their first attempt
The OSCP is brutal: 48 hours of hands-on hacking under time pressure, no multiple choice, no second chance during the session.
Most don't fail because of missing technical knowledge. They fail because:
- They start unplanned — without a structured learning path you lose weeks in irrelevant rabbit holes.
- They fight alone — when stuck, nobody nudges them in the right direction without spoiling the solution.
- They underestimate exam reality — lab exercises ≠ exam machines under stress.
The result?
Months of preparation, €1,100 in license costs, and at the end: "Exam failed. Try again."
It doesn't have to be that way.
We'll show you how to pass on the first try.

OSCP Certification: What candidates really need to know
The OSCP certification is the most important practical entry point into penetration testing. Here we explain the structure, cost, requirements, and preparation — and how you can pass the exam on the first attempt.
What is the OSCP certification?
OSCP stands for Offensive Security Certified Professional. It is a practical, hands-on certification from OffSec that tests in a 24-hour exam whether you can independently identify, exploit, and document machines. No multiple-choice questions — real hacking under time pressure.
OSCP certification requirements
OffSec recommends confident Linux use, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, DNS), Python or Bash scripting, and a basic understanding of web and system vulnerabilities. CTF experience or Hack The Box practice is a big plus.
How long does OSCP certification take?
Preparation usually takes 6–9 months alongside a job. The exam itself lasts 24 hours, followed by 24 hours for documentation. With the Learn One license you get 12 months of lab access and two exam attempts — this significantly reduces time pressure.
OSCP certification cost & exam format
Costs range from roughly €1,545 to €5,370 depending on the package (excl. VAT). The Bundle includes the course, lab access, and exam. Learn One offers 12 months of lab access and two attempts. You need at least 70 points to pass.

We are an OffSec partner and help you get the most out of your OSCP certification: German invoice, German support, monthly check-ins with OSCP-certified trainers, an exclusive prep kit, and access to a community of 72+ alumni.

What does the OSCP certificate actually give you?
Hands-on exam, not multiple choice
You prove real skill: 48 hours of hands-on hacking, no memorization. That convinces employers more than ten theory certificates.
Industry-wide recognition
The OSCP is the gold standard in offensive security — from CERTs to red teams. Hiring managers know: OSCP means you deliver.
Proof of the #TryHarder mindset
The exam tests persistence and methodology — exactly the traits critical security roles need.
Foundation for specializations
OSCP opens the door to OSEP (advanced), OSWE (web) and OSDA (defense) — your career path grows with it.

Most candidates need 6–9 months of preparation alongside their job. With 12 months of access and 2 exam attempts you have enough room without running into time pressure. If you narrowly fail the first attempt, you can iterate and go straight into the second — with no €1,100 top-up.
Frequently asked OSCP certification questions
How much time per week do I need to prepare?+
Most candidates invest 10–15 hours per week over 6–9 months. Learn One (12 months of lab access) leaves enough buffer even alongside a full-time job.
What happens if I fail the exam?+
Learn One includes two exam attempts. If you narrowly fail the first, you can retake the exam at no extra cost (retakes otherwise cost roughly €1,100).
Is the OSCP suitable for beginners?+
OSCP is an entry-level pentesting certificate, but not a starting point for IT. Solid Linux, networking and scripting fundamentals are required. In the license consultation we assess whether you're ready or should start with a fundamentals track.
How is ExploitLabs different from buying directly from OffSec?+
Same price, German invoice and support, monthly check-ins with OSCP/OSEP-certified trainers, community access with 72+ alumni, plus our prep kit and the DragonDrop learning tool — all included.
Can I buy licenses for my team?+
Yes. For teams and enterprises, Learn Enterprise is the right option — SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, with access to all OffSec courses and learning paths. We issue a German invoice and support the rollout.
What is the OSCP certification?+
The OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) is a hands-on pentesting certification from OffSec. In a 24-hour exam you prove you can independently identify, exploit, and document multiple target systems. It is globally recognized as the entry point into professional offensive security.

How much does OSCP certification cost in Germany?+
Common packages range from roughly €1,545 to €5,370 (excl. VAT), depending on lab access and exam attempts. With ExploitLabs you get the same OffSec license, but with a German invoice, German support, and our prep kit included.
How long does OSCP certification take?+
Most candidates need 6–9 months alongside their job. With the Learn One license you get 12 months of lab access and 2 exam attempts, which significantly reduces the usual time pressure.
Is the OSCP certification worth it for career entry?+
Yes, if you want to move into penetration testing or red teaming. The OSCP is one of the few certifications that actually proves practical skills, so it is often explicitly requested in job postings and by clients.
